Doing a Challenge Day is fun. It is also incredibly high energy. It includes a series of games, activities, group discussions, icebreakers and trust-building exercises. But buried in all the fun, the group exercises are carefully crafted to steer the participants toward deep feeling, penetrating insight and a new level of connection with those around them.
Many young people feel terribly isolated today. This isolation isn't due to a lack of people around them, but rather to a lack of connection with those people. The Challenge Day program tears down the walls of separation around them and creates connection and support among the participants.
It inspires the participants to live in an environment of compassion, acceptance and respect. The students (and adult volunteers) are very, very changed at the end of the day. They leave carrying this change with them, and in many instances it will stay with them the rest of their lives.
