Be The Change was inspired by the words and actions of Mahatma Gandhi and fueled by the vision of Challenge Day. The Be The Change Movement is a rapidly growing, international coalition of like-minded, socially responsible and committed individuals, schools, communities and organizations. By joining your school team, or a local Circle of Change, you automatically become part of the Be The Change Movement. You not only commit yourself to being the change you wish to see, you also immediately serve as an inspiration and support to others.

Challenge Day and the Be The Change Movement share a common vision … that EVERY child lives in a world where they feel safe, loved and celebrated.

Since 1987, Challenge Day has been working to create positive change in schools all across the USA and Canada. We noticed, however, that even though the young people were inspired and ready to create change in their world, they were soon hit with a wave of fear, negativity and hopelessness. Then, we had a radical idea!! What if we (all of us - together) created a bigger wave ~ a wave of love, hope, and inspiration. We call that wave the Be The Change Movement.

The current state of our world, with violence, pollution, poverty, disease, addiction, social oppression, isolation and threats of war has left many of us feeling fearful, victimized or alone. The Be The Change Movement provides each of us with a clear and powerful way to be a part of the change we wish to see in the world.

A huge piece of the Be The Change movement involves a commitment to make at least one intentional, positive Act of Change everyday. An Act of Change can be as small as offering a smile to someone new or as big as volunteering at a local homeless shelter. By maintaining your commitment to perform at least one intentional, positive Act of Change per day, you will be gifting yourself with the immediate satisfaction and pride associated with making a difference.
